Derek and his wife Ryan fell in love with e-bikes during a trip to Switzerland several years ago. In one memorable day they pedaled, and ate, their way through Germany (breakfast), France (lunch), and Switzerland (dinner). After COVID hit in the spring of 2020, they quit their restaurant jobs, saved their stimulus checks and leveraged their good credit to take the ultimate leap of faith and start their own business.
Both Derek and Ryan combined have had the benefit of 25+ years of five-star training in Aspen and Snowmass. They have successfully navigated restaurants, hotels, limo companies and even rental properties and wanted to bring that high level of customer service, efficiency and personability to the ebiking world. They launched Silver City Cycles in the summer of 2020 and are proud to say that the company is exceeding their wildest dreams.
UPDATE: And as of December 2021, they officially became a true Mom & Pop operation when they added baby Douka to the Silver City Cycles team. Be on the look out for this little guy this summer! What do you do when there’s an employee shortage? Grow your own!

Below are some of the more common questions we receive.
We are a completely mobile e-bike company so we do not have a storefront. But we can drop bikes off and pick them up wherever and whenever the guests are done. Even if they've had too many margaritas at Woody Creek Tavern, we can pick the bikes up there.
No. For insurance reasons and because our busses do not have seats in them we cannot pick up guests, only bikes.
Helmets, bike locks, a safety demonstration and drop off/pick up are all included in the price.
Anywhere you like but most people ride up to the Maroon Bells. Car passes are sold out until September and shuttle tickets are sold out almost entirely. So e-biking up to the Maroon Bells is one of the only ways to get there anymore. Plus it's a bucket-list activity for most people and you really get the whole experience because you're outside in the fresh air.
From Aspen to the top of the Maroon Bells it's about 11 miles. From the Aspen Highlands Basecamp parking garage, where we drop a lot of our bikes off, to the top it's 9 miles. Round Trip would be about 20 miles.
On average our bikes will go 25+ miles. However, we have had guests get almost 45-50 miles because they knew how to use the correct bike gears and conserved their battery so that they could last all day.
We have Burley trailers, which can seat two small children and "Co-pilots" which are an attachment to a bike that allows an older child to ride tandem and pedal as well. All kids' additions come with child-sized helmets.
No, we specialize in e-bikes only.
Personal vehicles and shuttle-bus reservations are now required and in short supply to visit the Maroon Bells, one of the most photographed mountains in North America. However, e-bikes do not need a reservation!
12 miles of scenic Aspen groves and glens to get to Pine Creek Cookhouse, the legendary log-cabin restaurant located at the base of the Elk Mountains. Lunch reservations required, open Weds-Sundays.
A favorite hangout for the late journalist Hunter S. Thompson, Woody Creek Tavern has now become a popular ebike destination from downtown Aspen. A leisurely 8-mile ride along the river.
